The Cottage
This very comfortable cottage sleeps up to four people (plus a cot by arrangement). Upstairs there are three bedrooms, one double and two single rooms, a bathroom with over-bath shower, basin and WC.
Downstairs there is a very well equipped kitchen/dining room with fan oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, dishwasher, washing machine, radio etc. There is also a downstairs cloakroom and a sitting room. The sitting room has our popular log burning stove (logs are included in the price), Stereo Television, Video Recorder and a DVD Player. The cottage has full gas-fired central heating making it ideal for holidays throughout the year. A highchair is available on request. The cottage is non-smoking throughout.
The Area
Chance Cottage is peacefully situated one mile from the pretty village of Mere in South Wiltshire (see the OS map on the photo gallery). The village has a Post Office and newsagents, grocery shops, a bank, library, pubs, takeaways, restaurants and a very helpful Tourist Information Centre. The area is perfect for walking or cycling for families and pets.
Nearby are the towns of Gillingham and the picturesque Shaftesbury with larger supermarkets and extra general facilities. Some of the many attractions in the area include Stourhead House and Gardens (N.T) only 5 minutes drive, Stonehenge 20 minutes, Longleat House and Safari park 20 minutes, The cathedral city of Salisbury 30 minutes, Bath 45 minutes.
The cottage is only an hour from the beautiful Dorset coastline with the sandy beaches of Studland and Sandbanks at Poole or stunning scenery and coastal walks to be found at Kimmeridge and Lulworth Cove.

The Owners
Nick and Leigh White have been running the holiday cottage at Chance Cottage since 1999 and live with their family in front of the holiday cottage making it completely private and separate from their own home. However they are very happy to help or recommend a place to visit, etc. When you arrive for your holiday you will find a welcoming tea tray with tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits. The prices include all power, fuel, bed linen, towels and logs, and one well-behaved pet is welcome free of charge by arrangement.
